Mrs. Beth Mcgaughey-Iaea

Mrs. Mcgaughey-Iaea received her Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy Magna Cum Laude from the University of Dayton, and her Master of Music Education degree Summa Cum Laude from Wright State University in Ohio.  She has taught all grade levels in the public schools, teaching general music, band, marching band, jazz band, choir, and guitar.  She has also taught at the Jr. College and University level courses in Piano Pedagogy, Theory, Ear training/sight singing, Music for the Elementary Education Major, and other methods courses.  A piano instructor for over 30 years, she currently resides in Elk Grove, CA, and instructs 40 students weekly.  

She is a member of the collegiate honor society, Phi Kappa Phi, the National Guild of Piano Teachers, Past President of the international music fraternity of Sigma Alpha Iota-Delta Sigma Chapter, and was nominated by her colleagues for membership and international teaching in the U.S. delegation for Jazz Education in Australia.  In high school, she received the J.S.Bach, Sonatina, Sonata, and High School Diploma in Music awards from the American College of Musicians, and was chosen by national auditions to travel throughout Europe performing with the Jazz  Abroad  Program at the major Jazz festivals of Antibes France, North Sea  Holland, and Montreux  Switzerland.  In college, she received the University of Dayton Performing Arts Most Talented award and was awarded a full assistantship for Graduate Study at Wright State University.  She has presented and performed at many conferences and seminars in the areas of Music Therapy, Music Education, Piano Literature, and Performance.  She is a Board member for the Professional Women's Choral group Vox Musica from Sacramento and has also performed and produced 2 recordings of Big Band Jazz and most recently a CD of Smooth Jazz with her husband. 

She continues to be an adjudicator for the National Guild of Piano Teachers, and the California Association of Professional Music Teachers, and was invited to judge at the inception of the World Pianist Competition held at the Kennedy Center for the Arts.
