Individual Lessons

We recognize the uniqueness of each student, and as a result, we customize our teaching methods to suit their individual needs. Lessons are once a week, in durations of 30min, 45min, or 60min depending on the student's age, level, and ability. Individual lessons are offered for piano, violin, guitar, voice, and theory/musicianship.

  • When working with younger students, our main objective is to sustain their interest in music while instilling their love for music and art as well as helping their motoric senses to evolve. During these lessons, we incorporate activities such as flashcards, rhythm tapping, singing, and listening. Parental support is particularly important for younger children aged 4-6 during the lessons and at-home practices.

We encourage students to consider taking exams and/or performing, as it can significantly enhance their understanding of music. Their musical knowledge becomes more goal-oriented and comprehensive by getting intense training in techniques, repertoire, sight-reading, ear training, and theory.

Music Theory/History

Music theory,  like language, enables us to

  • Understand the structure and meaning behind a musical composition.

  • Work faster when learning the composition because you can consciously “attack” a technical, structural, or conceptual problem

    • Refer to important points in the music we play/hear.

    • Learn formal musical terms and convey ideas easily instead of repeatedly having to explain the concept of the music theory

Music History: When learning music, knowing its history has a great impact on becoming a better musician.

    •  Students learn about how and when music notation has started,

    • Students explore a wide range of repertoire from the medieval period to the modern day.

    •  Students learn about music periods, and their characteristics, and take a deep dive into composers’ lives and works.

    • A better understanding of music history helps students immerse themselves in the pieces they play by musicians and composers that they learn about.
